Wai Wai, born in Hong Kong, is a local illustrator and silhouette artist. Wai Wai holds a Bachelor Degree of Arts (Hons) in Creative Media from City University, majoring in film study. In 2016, she studied water-based woodblock printmaking (Mokuhanga) and the Etegami technique (Japanese Folk Art painting) in MI-Lab, Lake Kawaguchi, Japan.

Wai Wai paints illustrations of local vintage shops to bring people closer in their communities. Portrait drawing is her favourite subject, and by conveying the idea of diligence and dedication in work through her drawings made her feel fulfilled all the time. Wai Wai’s "A Love Letter to Yau Ma Tei" is her first solo album dedicating her love for Yau Ma Tei, as she was brought up in the area!

The artist collaborates with individual associations to made illustrations, shutter painting, mural painting and

hand cut silhouette projects all along the years, including Eslite Spectrum, Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, Urban Renewal Authority, Kee Wah Bakery, Diptyque, Hong Kong Global Geopark, The Hong Kong Institute of Housing, St. James' Settlement, The Cityview, Tung Nam Lou Hotel, etc.

  • In June 2020, the mural painting done by Wai Wai at 618 Shanghai Street, Mongkok, was shortlisted in the 2020 World Illustration Awards.

  • In 2017, she travelled to Heilongjiang Province, China, collaborated with RTHK and host a cultural programme “Wind Takers” featuring Heilongjiang’s folk art--fish skin painting.


慧惠是一位土生土長的香港插畫家和剪影師。畢業於香港城市大學創意媒體文學士,主修電影。在 2016 年,她參加了日本 MI-LAB 舉辦的藝術家進駐計劃,到日本河口湖學習木刻水 印及繪手紙。

慧惠喜歡透過探訪與繪畫香港本土的小店,把人與社區連結,從而加深對香港不同地區的了解。人物是慧惠最愛創作的題材,尤其是默默耕耘、專注工作的大叔 最能吸引她的關注去創作描繪。「生於斯,長於斯」,慧惠對香港的情感深厚,藉著創作首本個人畫集《給油麻地的情書》去表達她對自己從小長大的地方的一份愛意。

近年,慧惠與不同的機構合作,積極參與插畫、 鐵閘畫、壁畫、教學及剪影工作,合作機構包括誠品書店、香港話劇團、市區重建局、奇華餅家、Emporio Armani、 Diptyque、香港聯合國教科文組織世界地質公園 、香港房屋經理學會、聖雅各福群會、城景國際、東南樓等。

  • 2020 年,慧惠於618上海街創作的壁畫入選為World Illustration Awards 2020 的入圍作品。

  • 2017 年,她參與香港電台電視部文化節目──《采風》拍攝,探索中國黑龍江民間藝術──魚皮畫。
